Brenda Moffat seems to have been born to do good in the world. With a firefighter for a brother, two nurses for sisters and a veterinarian parent, things would seem amiss if Brenda herself weren't helping the community. Her specialty? “Wigs for every style: clinical, theatrical, fashionable,” she says. Brenda’s first sold a wig in 1997 to a client suffering from alopecia. She’s been in love with the field ever since. Originally, she had a salon called Hair Sensations in BC before moving to Calgary and opening a new salon in 2007. The name, Georgios 635 Salon, hails from Brenda's previous business, which was located at 635 George Street.
Brenda volunteers regularly for the Canadian Cancer Society’s wig bank where she washes, sorts, cuts and revitalizes their wigs. It’s clear that she has a knack for helping those who are suffering hair loss from palliative care. “I’m able to bring the confidence back to the woman behind the hair,” she says with pride. "I put smiles on their faces and take away the nervous, insecure, sick-to-the-stomach feeling. I fit them with the tools they need to look their best when they’re feeling their worst.”
