While browsing at Baskets in the Park, it becomes clear why the shop is a four-time winner of the Consumer Choice Award for best gift basket business in Edmonton. “I attribute a lot of it to good fortune. A lot of it is hard work, searching for the right products and, of course, keeping the customers happy,” says owner Cathy Slobodian, who is also the creative force behind the custom-made gifts.
Cathy bought a small, existing store in 2001 and turned it into a successful business. Since then, Cathy's daughter Natalie joined as a business partner, and the store has expanded and moved to a new location in Sherwood Park. “People expect the best and that is what we try to give them,” says Cathy. “We try not to let anybody down.”
