This is supposed to be a restaurant/eatery with a Trinidadian flavour - think again! I ordered 3 beef dalpouri rotis and 2 doubles with channa for take out and I invited one other person to try both - the roti was very thin with very little dahl, very dry, and the curry beef/potatoes tasteless. "D Hot Shoppe" also needs a course in making doubles! The channa in the doubles were slightly under-cooked and again, tasteless. Maybe the owners should visit their competition and experience what they are clearly missing.
what more can i say that hasnt been said! Being from the west indies and trying roti shops all over toronto and area for 20 years i can honestly say this is one of the best. The other day i found another place in burlington and decided to give it a try. couldnt even compare. d hot shoppe i will never stray from you again!
If we go during the office hours their goat roti is of good quality. But if we go after office hours, it's one of the worst roti someone can ever have. Very few meat and gravy tastes almost like water. Price is same as the day time. So I give them 2 star because of this dual standard. For day time taste I would give them 4 star. We try to go during the lunch hour. Unfortunately,it's the only roti shop in Burlington.
Not a real fan of this type of food but for a change of pace, decided to try it. Have to say I was very happy afterward. Good spices, not overpowering and very authentic If you're a fan of roti, this is the place!
Friendly, fast service, food is fresh and tasty, normally difficult to find vegetairan options on menus but D Hot Shoppe have a good selection. Very good, will visit again.
THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST ROTI AND GRAVY ANYWHERE !!!!!! I DREAM ABOUT THIER FOOD..............I HAVE EVERYONE AT WORK DYING FOR IT!!! i HOPE THEY STAY THERE FOREVER!
Thank goodness there is a place in Burlington where you can get quality food like this! Much needed. Not only that, tastes amazing and the staff and friendly. Need to go back for the jerk chicken dinner asap!
Warning! Highly addictive. the roti is the best I have found so far and the jerk chicken is great.
Yeah it was good. I've been there 3 times. I can't say no to the gravy. I would like to see Bake and Shark added. Apparently this is a popular sandwich in the Trinidad.
I have been to DHS many times and have never been disappointed. I am so glad there is a place in Burlington to get such good Roti and other amazing Caribbean dishes. I will be a long standing fan.
The rotis here are fantastic. D Hot Shoppe is minutes from my house and is possibly the best roti inthe GTA. My family is from Trinidad and I know a good roti when I have one. Thier peppa sauce is plenty hot and flavourful.
best roti wrap, juicy and very tasty. very filling & if you love curry, get to this restaurant. If you order hot you better like hot because hot is seriously hot. I like hot but here I order medium. These roti's are not dry but juicy. Staff are fun and joke a lot. It gets busy at 12 to 1 pm, order early by phone or go after 1:30 pm. The staff do well at busy time but you may have to wait 5 to 10 minutes
This is just to notfiy the last person who posted that D Hot Shoppe is still in full operation and is not closed down or for sale. The place next door is closed and "FOR RENT" . Sorry you had to come as far as Hamilton and be disappointed that we were not open but please come again!! We would love to serve you! We are open the following hours: Mon- Thurs 11am-7pm Friday 11am-8pm Satur. 11am-7pm So sorry for the mis-understanding
Excellent food! We have been coming here since it first opened and we love it. The owners are very nice and if you like HOT like we do, you will love the curries and rotis. Be careful though because hot is definitely hot! We only wish they would start offering jerk then it would be perfect :)
The owner used to work at Kori's Roti, and they have done a great job to try and improve on that formula. The Roti shell/skin is very thin, great for home use, but a bit messy if you are eating out in a shirt. Skip the Doubles and Pholourie Balls. Curry is some times a little salty. Great portions for your money. No line up most nights.
Ate at Kori's for 10+ years, multiple times per week. Moved to Burlington and found this place. Today experienced a weird thing. When I poured my gravy over the roti, my mouth began to water uncontrollably. Ate this piece of heaven in minutes flat and can't believe how good it is. Better than Kori's is not something I'd say lightly, but it just might be. Best food in Burlington? Absolutely!
Every time I go to this place I always try to convince myself that I only going for 1 Roti but I always and i mean ALWAYS end up leaving with 1 or 2 more extra to eat for later. I use to go to Koris but this place is 10 times better. The food is authentic and theres variety of foods to choose from. The pepper sauce is home made and by far the best I've tasted!
This place is awesome. I have had roti from many places around the gta, and this is BY FAR the best roti. The roti skins are so tender and yummy, as is the beef. They get the heat right, extra hot burns!!!! It is hard to find a place that can make things hot hot hot!!! (of course you dont have to get it spicy if you dont want!) The place is nothing fancy, and there is usually a big line up during the lunch hour. I usually do take out, as seating can also be jammed up at lunch. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!!
I couldn't help but notice all the hype this store's been getting through the site, and it was not unjustifiably so. This place is clever, one of a kind, and the food is pretty good too! Rotis are certainly filling, and the hot sauce did not disappoint. My one preconception was that this place would tone down the spice because it didn't want to scare off customers, but that appears to be wrong. The rotis themselves are a huge meal. Roti bread filled with Curry and potatoes make for a very satisfying meal. Too bad there wasn't a side salad offered. portion size could be cut down and it wouldn't have to be so expensive. ($8.00 for a large?) Then again, all that starch made the meal very filling. The storefront is fun and cheerful, but it presents itself as a take-out place. By the other reviews on this place, I'd assume that it's main clientele are the business lunch orders. Hooray for D hot Shoppe!
Its really nice to have variety, if you want a nice spicy authentic Roti as apposed to a burger or sub for the same price, this is the place to go. Quick and tasty!
