One of the best christmas stores in Toronto! They have everything from hard to find german decorations to kitschy and cute. Always worth a stop.
When you break it down, it’s no surprise Christmas is such a beloved time of year. As snow softly falls outside, families and friends are gathered inside, closely huddled together over warm cocoa and holiday cheer. With lights strung about, the tree stands grandly in a corner, festively decorated with years of gathered decorations and memories. This time of year people tend to act a little nicer to one another and this spirit is shown through gift-giving born of genuine goodwill.
Of all those fuzzy-feely factors, none has made a bigger impression on Ted Genova, owner of Flatiron’s Christmasmarket, than the Christmas decorations. He remembers trekking near the Swiss Alps and being absolutely struck by the importance the Swiss placed on delicately crafted ornaments at their Christmas markets. “When I was 30 years old, I left Toronto and moved to Europe for a year and my partner and I met a man in Basel, Switzerland, who had a very famous Christmas store in Switzerland,” he recalls. “He sort of inspired us because he had old-world glass ornaments. And as far as I can remember, I had not seen those since Eaton’s on College Street had closed in the 70s.” Ted returned home, an idea brewing in his head.

I was plannimg on going, even though I read some commemts of rude staff, but thought might have been an isolated situation. So I called to ask if there was parking and I was scared away!!! The man, cant call him a gentleman, was so rude. I asked I will like to know if u have parking for the store, he goes what?,in a very irritated way, I ask again and in the middle of my question he said thanks and hang up on me. He helped me a lot!!! Saved me from a trip to a store I dont want to go anymore.
This is my go-to store for smart, sometimes snarky, always unique gifts and cards. Sure you can go to Hallmark or Walmart but you won’t find that exact thing that speaks to you, as I do at Flatiron. Moreover the two chaps who own the place know where everything is, so when you ask for a pirate ship or Tardis ornament, they deliver. I am going there today to get my best friend a birthday card.
rude staff - not somewhere I will spend my money
