very good i love it very so much!
One of the best restaurants out there...
Excellent Restaurant and service. Had the best octopus i hoverer had.Highly recommend.
Good food but over priced
I have heard about this place from my friends many times, and finally came a chance to go there. From the first moment I stepped inside, I did not feel comfortable. The servers were pushing you to choose quickly, attitude was not friendly at all and the appetizers took long time - 20-30 minutes - to come. The pasta was over cooked and in my opinion the food's price does not match its quality.
I have visited again and again Sotto Sotto. It is one of the best italian restaurants I have been to. The food is amazing and the wine list is incroyable. A great place for a great dinner for 2
Disappointment! Sotto Sotto was highly recommended to us and we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. Food - bread was definitively from yesterday, cold and soggy. Our appetizer missed the parmigiano (!) and prosciuto was NOT Parma. Main dish was the best part, calamari and sardines, but nothing to be impressed with. Just average. Flambe for desert was salty so my theory is that they actually used salter butter for it, I have no other explanation. Service - below average. We had 4 different servers and 2 of them managed to spill food over the table. Ambiance - yes it is cozy and nice but we were unfortunate to pick a night when some kind of corporate event took place and they placed them together with the rest of us in the same room. The acoustics of the place (or, to be correct, basement) that is this restaurant hardly allowed us to hear each other, it was so noisy. Overall, as I mentioned, a big disappointment. It's not fine dinning, that's for sure. The photos at the entrance with all the movie stars are impressive and contribute to the hype this place does not deserve. It's an average Italian restaurant in a fancy neighbourhood that probably still lives it's old fame.
We had heard this was a Resturant for Fine Dining. So we decided to go here for New Years Eve 2008/2009. Our experience turned out to be very disapointing. The building is very run down, so the atmosphere rating was not as pleasant as one is lead to believe. The food was average, and more so the Waiter from France was bewildered for most of the evening. As you can imagine, the service was very poor. Over all rating, no more than a 2 Star Rating. Please keep your coat on, as the windows are drafty should you be so lucky to be seated next to one while dining. The washrooms were not clean, so you can imagine what the kitchen looks like. A good place to go though if you want to be ignored by your Waiter all evening. The wine menu shows a very poor selection. The meal was $128.00 per plate, wow
I love the atmosphere, the caverns and the lightimng but man for the cost one needs a little ore quality and a more extensive menu. Even the bread was served stale. Definitely not from the same day.
We were there quite late - from about 10 to midnight and it was surprisingly loud! Conversation was a little difficult. Overall it was a pleasant experience, but given the number of restaurant options in Toronto, I would chose to try a new one rather than return to Sotto Sotto unless I was craving some simple al dente pasta. The baccio gelati was excellent. As was the very EXPENSIVE bottle of Cake Bread ($250). The food was definitely decent, but not particularly memorable.
Disappointing for the price. Perfect until after the main course, food was excellent. Then we were asked to move table to make room for two tables to be moved together - presumably for a 3rd sitting, we then felt like we were being hassled to be moved on. We were asked if we wanted coffee without enquiring about dessert, and they forgot to move our drinks when we changed table. While there we saw no less than three tables being asked to move to make room for others. Overall? we expected a more relaxed atmosphere and better service for the price, with perhaps some suggestion of a free drink for the hassle of moving but nothing materalised.
Great Meal - Would for sure go back again and again, and to top it off one of the chefs is HOT HOT HOT. I will recomend Sotto Sotto to everyone.
