Wonderful place. We have been there many times to celebrate and just as a special place to eat out and have never had a bad meal. The service has always been good. It is pricey but the atmosphere is nice and no out of control children. The food is excellent and we have never had a problem with it.
Fabulous evening! Celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary on July 9th 2011 at The Old Barber House! The ambience is wonderful, the waiter Daryll is top notch! Thank you Daryll! The food is incredible! Fresh , cooked to perfection! The owner John is amazing, very personable, friendly and professional. Thank you for sharing this great day with us! Would return over and over again!
I took my friend here to celebrate her birthday. It was our first time eating at this restaurant. We arrived at lunch time but unfortunately no one greeted us at for the first 5 mins- we were afraid that the restaurant may have been closed. When we did get seated, the server was kind and efficient! The pastas were fairly portioned, but a bit too greasy. The server was also observant, noticing the birthday celebration, and treating us to dessert on the house! That was a nice touch.
Service and food was awful!! no one made the effort to make it better!! We left early from the party becuase it was too hot, the airconditioning wasn't working!
The restaurant is in a historic house in Streetsville. Nice ambiance. There were a few special events/weddings that evening and the restaurant was busy. The wine was overpriced even considering the expected mark-up. We told our server that we were sharing the escargot appetizer. It arrived with one fork. The halibut dish looked unappealing and tasted bland. It looked like the halibut and potatoes were boiled. We later learned they were poached. The food sat in a bowl of oil. The zucchini was shredded and sat in the oil as well. The only tasty part was the black olives. The pork dish was better served with sweet and roast potatoes and asparagus spears. It took a while for our bill to arrive after we asked for it. When the reservation was made, it was made clear that we were celebrating a birthday. They said they'd bring a piece of cake to the table. It never arrived. We were very disappointed with the food and service. We're sorry to say that we won't be back.
