After a long and tiring day, sometimes it’s best to let someone else do the cooking. Chinese food is a classic option for those who want to order in and luckily Vancouver is home to numerous eateries to help satisfy your chow mein cravings. These local spots serve up traditional Chinese fare, inventive fusion flavours and tasty Westernized variations. Even better, they’ll deliver hot-and-ready dishes directly to your door.

Peaceful Restaurant

1
532 Broadway W, Vancouver BC V5Z 1E9

This acclaimed Chinese restaurant attracted line-ups long before the Food Network’s Guy Fieri stopped by for his TV show, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The Northern Chinese menu includes authentic regional specialties such as Kung Pao chicken, fish braised in Sichuan broth and a number of hand-pulled noodle dishes. The Dim Sum menu offers crowd-pleasing bites that are great for sharing. Don’t miss the award-winning Peaceful beef rolls: the savoury rolls see five-spiced beef, fresh green onions and a sweet hoisin sauce stuffed into a crispy, flaky crust. The delivery zone stretches between Knight and Granville, from downtown to 25th Avenue.

Lin Chinese Cuisine and Tea House

1537 Broadway W, Vancouver BC V6J 1W6

Owner and head chef Ru Lin Zhang has earned a reputation for his impressive culinary skills. After training at some of the toughest traditional Chinese culinary institutes, he has developed a unique menu that draws inspiration from three culinary regions: Beijing, Szechuan and Shanghai. Chef Zhang’s renowned Xiao Long Bao (Shanghai-style juicy pork dumplings) has earned him numerous awards and critical praise, as has his handmade noodle soup. Delivery times can be on the slower side but these inspired dishes are definitely worth the wait.

Chongqing Restaurant

ChongQing was one of the first restaurants in the city offering Szechuan cuisine and now has three locations around the city. Get your greens with a side of crunchy Chinese broccoli in savoury garlic sauce. Delivery is available Monday through Sunday from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. The online ordering system is convenient and easy to use; simply type in your postal code to verify if delivery is available in your area.

You’ll also find plenty of vegetarian options, egg foo young, chow mein, fried rice and chop suey. Delivery is relatively speedy (dishes arrive warm) and the service is free on orders over $30.

Mui Garden

This Hong Kong style café serves up homey Asian cooking inspired by a number of different regional influences. Mui Garden is particularly famous for its authentic Malaysian curries – prepared with more than 20 blended spices and mixed with your choice of meat, seafood or vegetables – and their Hai Nam style chicken with rice. The fusion menu is diverse and features classic Asian cuisine (chow mein, vermicelli, congee, soups) alongside Western plates like sandwiches, French fries, baked rice and pasta. For something out of the ordinary, try baked chicken with coconut milk or pan-fried BBQ pork with spaghetti.

The take out and delivery menu at Broadway Chinese features meat and vegetable dishes, fried rice, soft and crispy noodle options, egg foo young and a good selection of appetizers (we love the hot and spicy fried chicken wings). If you’re looking for suggestions, check out the set menu options. The online ordering system makes things less complicated and allows you to make special requests and leave notes on cooking instructions.
