Ashley and Tessa Lee are two sisters who wanted to open their own businesses. Tessa envisioned a vegetarian café while Ashley dreamed of a pet bakery. “We didn’t know which one we would do first, but the place we were looking at on 124th Street was big enough to handle both, so we divided it into two,” says Ashley. Tessa opened the Clever Rabbit Café on one side, and Ashley opened Food Dish Wishes on the other.
“It’s probably the best neighbourhood we could have found,” says Ashley. “There are lots of dog owners and there is a dog park just a few blocks away so that’s been really nice.”
In addition to the bakery, Food Dish Wishes also sells dog food, sweaters and other pet accessories. “Our location is really good. There are lots of people who like to support local businesses and appreciate that we offer something different from regular pet stores.”
