Taking appealing pictures of people is the just the initial step at Art of Headshots. The real focus of the business is capturing and conveying the essence of a person in their headshot. “A lot of people come in and say 'I want to look good, can you make me look good?' The short answer is yes, but the long answer is that it is really irrelevant. If we capture the essence of someone, their energy, then everyone looks good,” says Carlos Taylhardat, the company's founder and owner.
Carlos worked for a couple of years with the Ministry of Children and Family Development before starting Art of Headshots. This experience has given him a gentle and amiable manner. His approachability is an important asset in creating his vibrant work. Carlos comes to understand his clients and their story – what drives them, what makes them interesting.
“That's the difference in our company. We don't photograph people like objects, we photograph people like people,” he says.
