Every time I've gone there, it would take the waiter at least 5 minutes to seat us. Which I don't understand, because it'd be empty.
I love, love, love the décor though! It's so beautiful, and really feels like a sushi place.
The waiter seemed very bored. Not at all motivated to work. Took a while for the food to be served too. Again, I don't understand it because I was the only one there.
The rolls are huge! And it always falls apart on me. Sushi is warm as well. Not sure why, but I still like it.
At the end of my lunch, I usually order the deep fried banana. It is obviously... A deep fried banana with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream some chocolate sauce and a bit of powered sugar on top. It sounds alright, but it is always heaven in my mouth. It's delicious! Highly recommended!
I took my mother there once, and she had ordered a spring roll. She loved the sauce that came with it, and asked for it's name. The waiter looked down on her like she was an idiot. He then said, as if he was talking to a 5 year old. "Umm... Spring Roll Sauce." She smiled and said thank you, but was clearly a bit upset.
I haven't went back since. Mostly because I'm usually spending $60-$80, and because of the service.
I may go back for the deep fried banana though....
food is good, however the rolls are WAY too big. sushi rolls should not be made this big. Waitress very unfriendly, never cracked a smile, male waiter looked very unhappy, no smile at the door when he seated us. We felt like we weren't wanted there. We probably won't go back
I have to agree with the previous reviewer. I was to meet my wife there and had to drive by twice to see it ; and i'm down in that area 2 or 3 times a week.Need a bigger sign perhaps a lit awning like money mart where i parked .Food was terrific and waitress was friendly. I will definitely be back.
Just wanted to say i agree with the previous poster i was meeting my wife she told me where the restraunt was but i had to drive by twice before i spotted it. Also i drive by there 2 or 3 times a week and never noticed it.I parked across from money mart and they have an eye catching lit up awning. Outtasite outtamind !

The answer my friend was blowing in the wind. POOR SIGNAGE. You sign is your biggest detriment. After a fine meal, we stood on the corner of Red River and Court and admired the night-time view with all of the trees and their pretty white lights, and Lake Superior in the distance. We thought about how the area would evolve as the waterfront development progresses and begins to attract more people. We pondered about your lack of customers and it came to my friend in an instant. The sign is really NOT visible.
You are wedged between two stores and barely visible to the travelling public. You need a BLINGY, in your face "flashing" sign. You might think it is cheesy but you will get noticed.

Second thing....i asked for our candle to be lit. Great decorating but candles create intimacy and warmth....so please light them automatically as customers are seated. When u stand on Red River Road at night when it is dark (especially) you would never, never, see the restuarant. You need a BLINGY, in your face "flashing" sign. The hostess was snippy because I refused to sit by the kitchen door. The atmosphere/decor is nice, but I had to leave my coat on because it was freezing in there. The funkily dressed waiter was incredibly rude, inexplicably condescending, and hilariously snobbish [all things considered]. Given that the restaurant was near empty, his impatience was unwarranted as was his repeated snapping at my daughter. We had to ask for the miso soup which is supposed to come with the rolls, but it didn't arrive until after the meal. I attempted recently to place a take out order as I felt it would be much easier than having to deal with the horrid service, but I couldn't get through on their telephone line. It was busy for 45 minutes, so I gave up.
Overall: good food, horrendous service destroys the appetite.
Thunder bay is slowly developing non traditional local resteraunts, there are currently three shushi resteraunts and this is one produces my favorite rolls. There is one girl serving there and I enjoy her very much, very personable, qucik and profesional. There is however a guy there who consistently dissapoints, slow, a little spaced out and almost always dress in what would better be suited to a bar, I never want to see a few inchest of butt crack when I eat and certainly not from some skinny dude in tight low rise jeans. In a resteraunt where you sit on the floor and have a guy constantly bending and squating beside you this is even more of a problem. I've made complaints about this and ohter people I know have also but nothign seems ot change. I'd have given a negative service review is possible and based solely on this one guy but everyone else including the owner ahve been great, chatting with me and firendly while very professional.
The Sushi Bowl has the best sushi I Have ever had, never found a better sushi yet. And i have been to many shushi places in Toronto and big cities in Europe. Say what you will of the service the food is excellent!!! Wasabi is no comparison, Sushi bowl is the best. I do agree the servers there may seem snobbish or asocial, but who cares I come to the sushi bowl to eat great sushi not socialize. If I had to endure people being rude to me and i had to eat in a BFI to get this sushi i would do it. Atmosphere and service are over rated... food counts!!!
HORRIBLE. Never go to this restaurant. The food is below average at best. The rolls are HUGE you can't even fit it in your mouth. They are made VERY badly as they're constantly falling apart. You can't even pick up the thing without it falling all over the table.
The real bad part was the service. Literally, it was the worst service ever. We walked in and immediately it was a bad sign: the waiter didn't even notice us til I blatantly stood in his way. He didn't even bring any customers to their table; he just left the menus on the table and ran. He was also eating a RING POP while serving people food.
The tables were left covered in past customers dishes. The waiter was eating ring pops instead of cleaning up the dirty tables.
My waiter didn't bother to check up on us to ask about our food, and we didn't get any refills on our drinks, which was only water.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. Terrible service and bad food.
