Theresa is an artist who, in the '90s, started doing accounting for a framing franchise. But it was the actual framing side of the business that increasingly intrigued her, so she transferred to the framing department.
“I absolutely loved it!” she exclaims. Theresa learned everything about framing, from precision wood and glass cutting, to matting, to all things framing and mounting-related. Then one day, as her boss was slowly transitioning out of the business, Theresa was given the chance to take over the shop.
“I took over the franchise,” she explains. “But after a while, I bought myself out and then reopened my own place as a sole proprietorship.” It was 2001 and Theresa’s new business was Frame by Design. As Theresa says, “It sure beats working at a desk twenty four seven.”
