I would never send my child here. The house looked sketchy as I was driving by. I thought I would have a look inside just to give it a chance. I was waiting for 20 minutes to speak with someone. The staff were not very warm and all I could hear were children screaming. It was very cold inside while I was waiting. I am not sure why there isn't proper heating throughout the house. This is not an ideal environment for my children, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Dear Mr. J When a prospective family is considering enrolling their son or daughter in our licensed nursery school program, we typically start with a phone call and then book a visit for the family, including their son or daughter. Specific arrangements are made with each family as to the date and time of their visit to ensure the quality of personal attention that is needed/expected is readily provided. Given that our program is specifically designed for children with unique medical, physical, developmental, sensory and social-emotional needs, considering our nursery school program is a very important decision in a family’s life. When planning for a family’s visit, we must first ensure that we continue to meet the needs of the children in the classroom before we can attend to a visiting family. We want each family’s visit to be as informative and personal as possible. Therefore, we arrange additional staffing for the classroom, so that one of our lead teachers can attend to the visiting family. When visiting, a prospective family is provided with our handbook, given a comprehensive tour of our facilities, and meet the staff who will be providing care and therapy to their son or daughter. For the safety and privacy of the children, individuals or families are not permitted to wander unattended through the building. A prospective child is encouraged to explore the classroom and participate in any and all classroom activities to the best of his/her abilities, within his/her comfort. Observing their child at work and play is important when a family is considering our program. During a family’s first visit, any and all questions are answered fully and as needed in the future. Heating for example, is regulated by the Day Nursery’s Act to be at seventy degrees Fahrenheit. Our nursery school is located in a century home which has been retrofitted with a high efficiency furnace. The thermostat is located in the classroom and is set to be at the specified temperature throughout the day and evening. The waiting room, where you would have waited for a staff member, can be on the cool side because of people coming and going from the outside. We ask families to be considerate and close doors behind them to keep the cold out as much as possible at the front door. Likewise, you were understandably concerned because you heard a child crying. When a child cries in our program, it is typically related to sensory and/or emotional-regulation differences that the child is learning to overcome. The child in question would have been well supported by a highly trained and loving staff member. You would have been able to see our caring responses, if you had been attending a tour in the classroom. Any child, regardless of diagnosis is welcome within our program. Some of our children face what seem to be insurmountable challenges through out every day of their lives. We are committed to loving them, encouraging them and challenging them to be all that they can be. Mr. J, we would encourage you to call us to arrange for an official, supported visit during which we will happily share information about our program, discuss whether or not it is suited to your child’s needs, provide you with a comprehensive tour, facilitate introductions with the staff and answer any questions you may have. We care. We would appreciate meeting you and sharing with you and your family. Sincerely,
